History
of Sandy Utah
Originally,
what is now known as "Sandy" was "Indian" country,
including Bannock, Shoshone and the Paiute. In 1860 settlers
started to move into Sandy because there was plenty of land
and a lot less people than most of the Salt Lake Valley.
It is said
that it was Brigham Young, leader of the LDS Church,
that named Sandy because the area had soil that was
sandy in nature..
